BIOS SETTINGS FOR GAMES UTILIZING THE 531 MOTHERBOARD

This service bulletin will guide you through the steps required for setting the BIOS on the 531 motherboard to the optimal settings.

Step 1: Verify the power is off to the game and you have access to the motherboard. Take your PS2 keyboard and plug the PS2 connector on the keyboard into the purple connector on the motherboard.

Step 2: Verify the keyboard is connected then turn the power on to the game. Hold the “DELETE” key down as soon as you turn on the power. Holding the “DELETE” key down is how you gain access to CMOS and BIOS.

Step 3: Using the arrow keys on you keyboard move the red highlight bar to the “STANDARD CMOS SETUP option, then hit the enter key.

Step 4: Using the arrow keys on you keyboard move the red highlight bar to DRIVE A:

Now use the Page Up key on your keyboard and change it to NONE. Then use the arrow keys on you keyboard and move the red highlight bar to DRIVE B: and change it to NONE. Then use the arrow keys on you keyboard and move the red highlight bar to HALT ON: and change it to ALL BUT KEY BOARD

Then hit the “ESC” key, which will take you back to the main CMOS page.

Step 5: Using the arrow keys on you keyboard move the red highlight bar to the “BIOS FEATURE SETUP” option and hit enter. Using the arrow keys on you keyboard move the red highlight bar to BOOT SEQUENCE option Then use the page up key on you keyboard and change it to CDROM,C,A . Then use the arrow keys on you keyboard and move the red highlight bar to SWAP FLOPPY DRIVE: and change it to DISABLED by using the Page Up key. Then use the arrow keys on you keyboard and move the red highlight bar to BOOT UP FLOPPY SEEK: and change it to DISABLED by using the Page Up key.

Then hit the “ESC” key, which will take you back to the main CMOS page.

Step 6: Using the arrow keys on your keyboard move the red highlight bar to the “CHIPSET FEATURES SETUP” option, then hit the enter key. : Using the arrow keys on you keyboard move the red highlight bar to the “AGP APERTURE SIZE” option, Then using the page up keys scroll through the choices until you see the 32MB choice. Then hit the “ESC” key, which will take you back to the main CMOS page.

Step 7: Using the arrow keys on you keyboard move the red highlight bar to the “INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS” option then hit the enter key. Then using the arrow keys on your keyboard move the red highlight bar to the “ONBOARD SERIAL PORT 1” option. Using the page up key scroll through the choices until you see the AUTO choice. Do the same for the “ONBOARD SERIAL PORT 2”, set it to AUTO. Then using the arrow keys on your keyboard move the red highlight bar to the “VGA SHARED MEMORY SIZE” option. Then using the page up key scroll through the choices until 8MB comes up. Then hit the “ESC” key, which will take you back to the main CMOS page.

Now you need to save all the changes you have made in the BIOS SETTING

At the CMOS Main UTILITY MENU PRESS The F10 key at the top of your keyboard. It will then ask you if you want to save these changes, ENTER Y For (YES) and then press the ENTER Key, The system will then reboot it self.
